How To Check If Your Turkish Dental Clinic Is Legitimate

You've found a clinic online. The website looks professional. The reviews are glowing. The coordinator on WhatsApp is friendly and responsive. But is this actually a licensed dental clinic — or a marketing agency that subcontracts your treatment to the cheapest available dentist?

This is the single most important question in dental tourism, and most patients never think to ask it. Here's how to check — from an independent advocate on the ground in Antalya.

Step 1: Ask for the HealthTürkiye authorisation certificate

Since April 2025, any clinic treating international patients in Turkey must hold a HealthTürkiye authorisation certificate. This is issued by the Turkish Ministry of Health. Agencies cannot hold these — only actual licensed healthcare facilities. If the entity you're communicating with cannot produce this certificate, you are not dealing with a clinic.

Step 2: Verify the clinic's registration

Every legitimate dental clinic in Turkey is registered with the Provincial Health Directorate (İl Sağlık Müdürlüğü) of the city it operates in. You can ask the clinic for their registration number and verify it.

Step 3: Check the dentist's credentials

Ask for the name and registration number of the dentist who will actually perform your treatment. Turkish dentists are registered with the Turkish Dental Association. The specialist performing your cosmetic dentistry, implants, or smile makeover should have the relevant qualifications — not just a general dental licence.

Red flags that suggest you're dealing with an agency, not a clinic

• They can't produce a HealthTürkiye certificate
• The "clinic" name on WhatsApp doesn't match any registered facility
• They offer UK hotel consultations — this is unlicensed and unregulated
• They won't name the specific dentist who will treat you
• The website has no physical address, or the address doesn't match a real clinic
• They ask for large deposits before you've had any clinical assessment
